A majority of people pin their hopes on the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)-installed government of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha than on a government from politicians, according to an opinion survey carried out by Suan Dusit Rajabhat University, or Suan Dusit Poll. The poll was conducted on Mar 14-18 on 1,194 people aged 18 and over throughout the country. On "happiness" brought by the Prayut government, 79.65% of the respondents mentioned supression of of corruption and drugs; 76.13% law and order; 74.37% decisiveness and straightforwardness. On "happiness" brought by a government from politicians, 70.85% mentioned democracy, rights and liberities; 65.08% mentioned its closeness to the people; and, 61.31% said it is open to criticism and accountable fore. On "miseries" caused by a government from politicians, 83.42% mentioned corruption and lack of transparency; 81.66% lack of morality; and, 77.89% said of quarrels and political division.
